Academic Programs

New York University is made up of 14 separate schools; eight of these are devoted to undergraduate education. That a renowned research university commits so much of its resources to undergraduate education demonstrates our dedication to teaching and preparing young adults for the world around them.

Twenty-five hundred undergraduate courses and more than 160 programs of study are available. While the curriculum in each college varies, all schools have a strong liberal arts underpinning. Students with majors as diverse as fine arts and neural science take courses together in subjects that are fundamental to a broad-based liberal arts education.

Courses in language, philosophy, history, and literature provide basic knowledge and develop intellectual capacities.
